Sanitree

An India-based sanitary pad initiative tackling the issues of period poverty and the stigma surrounding menstruation.

Sanitree is a project which began in Bhind, Madhya Pradesh, India, tackling the issues of period poverty and the stigma surrounding menstruation. We trained 27 local women as seamstresses to start a cooperative; manufacturing and selling reusable sanitary pads which last for at least two years and are 70% cheaper than disposable alternatives.

This year, we are expanding our impact by launching a new cooperative in Jaipur, Rajasthan
